Introduction for Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Bloodborne Pathogens Training is part of Occupational Health and Safety Administration OSHA Training is required for the welfare and protection of employees. Butterfly  Training offers multiple OSHA Employee Training Courses. 

Bloodborne Pathogens Training Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 “To assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women; by authorizing enforcement of the standards developed under the Act; by assisting and encouraging the States in their efforts to assure safe and healthful working conditions; by providing for research, information, education, and training in the field of occupational safety and health.

Trainees will gain knowledge about the risks involved in each area of focus and demonstrate ways to reduce risks to themselves and fellow employees.

Bloodborne pathogens training

Occupational Safety and Health Training – Blood-borne Pathogens (BBP)

Blood-borne Pathogens Training content is based on Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for Blood-borne Pathogens (BBP) described in the 29 CFR 1910.1030 (Code of Federal Regulations) and on Aircraft Certification Service Exposure Control Plan found in the IR 3900.74 Appendix A written by the FAA. 

Designed for those at risk for on-the-job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids in the workplace. The training teaches how to spread blood-borne pathogens, avoid exposure, and what to do if exposed to infectious material. This course is one of the requirements of the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standard. Those who complete this training receive a Blood-borne Pathogens Training certification valid for one year.
Under OSHA’s blood-borne pathogens training standard, all employers having employees with exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) must give blood-borne pathogen training to employees annually.

Who is required to receive Bloodborne Pathogens Training?

Most companies must be OSHA-compliant and train their staff on important safety requirements for workplace safety. However, not all businesses must follow OSHA.
