What is Sensitive Security Information?
As defined by Federal regulation 49 C.F.R. part 1520, Sensitive Security Information (SSI) is information that, if publicly released, would be detrimental to transportation security.
Sensitive Security Information falls into a category considered “sensitive but unclassified”.
SSI includes information obtained or developed as part of security activities. Disclosure of this information would:
- Constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy, including personal or medical files
- Reveal trade secrets or privileged or confidential information obtained from any person 3. Be detrimental to transportation security.
